Brian Moon began his teaching career in Western Australian secondary schools, where he taught English across
years 8 to 12. He was seconded by invitation to the WA College of Advanced Education as a curriculum lecturer, after which he undertook Masters degree and PhD studies at Perth's Curtin
University.
Brian was a part-time lecturer in Curtin's School of Communications and Cultural Studies before taking up a
position in English curriculum studies at Edith Cowan University, where he is now a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education.
Brian has served as an English Examiner for the Secondary Education Authority of Western Australia, and has
been a consultant on written communications to various state government departments.
In addition to his work in English curriculum and pedagogy, Brian's academic interests include literary and
cultural theory; reading practices; schooling and governmentality; and the semiotics of film and television.
His most recent work has focussed on the teaching of writing in secondary schools.
